Yes, it's archaic - but it is succinct. Have you ever noticed that your watch got a different life with a new strap? I have several watches that I was just about to sell, but then on a whim decided to put on a strap. That's when I realized: strap maketh watch.
Of course it does! Most bracelets are just value added items - cheap to make, expensive to buy...
Could not agree more. That has happened to me on more than one occasion. About to sell a watch, checking some old photos to put up, and then notice that strap I had it on.... So, I put the strap back on and decide to keep the watch.
No contest, this will be a 100% yes to the poll!

Yep happened to me... One should also collect straps for this reason and always buy at least two of a favorite strap. But now we get into strap addiction territory. :Hello, my name is Elnixean, and I am a -:
Yes, simply because it is very difficult (apparently) to make a really comfortable bracelet. Seiko was a master at this in the seventies... These vintage Seikos really have the best bracelets.
Hmm... Now what defines a strap? Material, micro adjustment, pin and buckle? This is a difficult question - a nato would not be a strap. Oh well, if it is all metal it is a bracelet right? Right?

Of course it does - bracelets are very limited in the way they can enhance the appearance of a watch.

Amusing - it was Bremont, costing 4500 euro and upwards thank you. 100 pieces for each of the three models. Here they are:
