Thanks JPF. I took the liberty to really delve into it and compare the two for an identical watch, costing 115,20 euro...
What I found is a comparable inspection fee of 500 yen (which is optional for both services), but the consolidation fees are very different.
Zenmarket is free, whereas
Buyee charges 1000 yen.
Other than that, when you use
PayPal you get a transaction fee, that would be the same for both -
Zenmarket payment is up front for "funds" (as if they were a bank) and
Buyee payment is immediate from your money source, i.e. withdrawal from your bank/cc one or two weeks later. (That does give you more time).
However, since
Buyee couples the inspection fee of 500 yen to insured delivery you will always pay that extra. Moreover, since I always buy multiple items to save on customs administration charges and shipping I always would pay the 1000 for consolidation. So
Buyee is 1500 yen more expensive to use, which is 11,50 euro.
Finally, let's not forget about domestic shipping, it is on the bill of
Zenmarket but not mentioned at
Buyee - you pay afterwards when you ship out (internationally). So add another 800 yen. Then the service fees in the
Buyee pics are 650 yen higher. In the end
Buyee is 2950 yen more expensive, which is 22,65 euro.
Is it worth it? Maybe it comes down to the upfront payment or not, and the user bidding/experience. I think that 22,65 euro can provide a stimulus to abandon
Buyee. I will definitely buy my next round of watches with
Zenmarket to test the waters.
