Preventing Crown Thread Wear

Better response on post Preventing Crown Thread WearI have several (vintage) watches that suffer from a difficult thread when screwing with the crown (pun intended). You just push the crown in and gently try if it will screw. If there is firm resistance, turn the other way around a bit and try again. Do this repeatedly until the crown will screw on easily at last. Works for me!

That is some good advice - but would a watchmaker be able to repair this at all?

He might just convert it to a push crown instead? That would seem an acceptable and cheap option to me.

I think that would not be possible... There is a spring inside a tube for the screw ins no?
