“Time!”

Their guns lifted in unison and bullets flew.
The company officers signaled with their whistles, men rose from the trenches and rushed forward.
Another attack timed to perfection.

This is what a watch can do, it is not that I favor the military, I favor the use of a watch as a tool for time - and yes, beauty. All men like beautiful things don't they? Probably more so than women - we stare at it all the time... Still talking about watches now, snap out of it!
So, watches... a beautiful watch makes you stare at it, a functional watch sets you free. There is an interesting comparison in there somewhere, but we won't get into it right now. It is very simple however, if you want to do some yard work, chainsawing, brick laying, what do you strap on your wrist? A beauty or a tool watch? It is going to be a tool watch, and if you are a serial killer (of watches mind you) that just trashes a watch "doin'everythang withit", read on for your much needed education. After all, men use the proper tools, boys bang it with - well, anything they can get their hands on really.
For that matter, fishing for a cell phone on regular occasions just to check the time.. that looks desperate when on say, a date, also it is less likely you will fall back on your phone as a distraction. Checking the phone for time usually results in a rabbit-trail of activities including checking every messenger app, email and Facebook. Soon, you will have all these girls to stare at, on your screen not in real life.
Back to us men. Sadly, The range of acceptable jewelry for a man is limited. Most are only going to be seen with three main accessories decorating their hands – a nice watch, a stylish pair of cuff links, and a simple wedding band if they’re married.
In addition to helping wearers stick to their schedules (wear a Bell-Matic!), wristwatches make it easier for them to display their sense of style. They are a form of self-expression – reflecting hint of danger, adventure and sports depending on the make of the watch. Watches can communicate a lot about the wearer’s personality. For those that prefer a bit of high-status bling on their wrist, a Rolex can be an understated, timeless and incredibly masculine accessory.
Watches of course embody craftsmanship. A wrist watch is more than a time-keeper. It is a symbol of tradition and history encased in a showpiece with extreme craftsmanship. Some watch houses have four craftsmen working on one watch for several months – designing polishing and regulating complex pieces of technology by hand. It is a misconception to assume this is only within reach of the wealthy few - buy a vintage watch that has that exact same level of craftsmanship, but then 40 year ago. A zaratsu polished Grand Seiko from the sixties anyone?
Yes, an analog watch has a simple and consistent mechanism. The way of expressing it is where the bulk of the creativity comes in. Watch design is inherently artistic. There is a lot of generic and non-inspiring watch styles out there, but the best stuff is beautiful and how often do you call a tool beautiful? Owning timepieces from a different era is a remembrance of people who lived before you. Having their watches makes you think of them, in a real way. They wore these same watches which show signs of use, care and and love.
A watch collection is also a legacy. It doesn’t necessarily have to be worth a mini treasure – but leaving your watch(es) to someone you care about is in essence passing on values that were important to you, to someone else.

Time!

He glanced at his speedmaster
and knew his oxygen tank had dryed up
the moonwatch never betrayed him...

It wanted to stay there.
