Better response on post Citizen Cosmotron 7800-8700I just got this Citizen Cosmotron. It is a electronic watch.

According to citizen it is the world’s first genuine electronic wristwatch that has adopted a moving-magnet type balance motor, driven by transistor on the regulating device.

All these 78 movements have an unusual method for quickly setting the date and day, which I believe no other manufacturer has used. The crown is pushed in to do this when the crown is in the normal running position – to set the date this action is carried out with the watch held vertically, 12 o’clock high. To set the day, the watch is held the other way up, i.e. vertically with 6 o’clock high.

It has a solid caseback with a small regulating screw and a battery hatch. It runs 10bps and has a sweeping seconds hand.

Nice. I like the watch but I haven’t really gotten into Citizen yet. That quick setting must be unique I quite agree. I have never heard of that “high noon” treatment.

Reminds me of the Elnix of course, the question is.... do these watches have "soul" or not? I mean, they are somewhere in between the quartz and the automatic.

These are "cosmic", their soul is irrelevant.. Cosmo-tron yeah.

Hi @jpfwatch , I think I will have to disagree here as to the quickset mechanism. I think the X8 might have this but not the 7800 series. My 7804 is different.. One has to move between the time of 20:45 and 03:30h (back and forth) to adjust the date! The day quickset is done by simply pushing the crown. Any position will do.

Adminishing the #$@ out of it
