The way of the dress watch
A dress watch does have some specific requirements. One might even say, it is an oft forgotten set of rules. Let's get to it shall we?
[color=#000000][font=Verdana]Rule number one. A gentleman wears Oxfords not brogues. That pertains of course to the leather. You wear only your Oxfords. No holes other than buckle holes, no embellishments. Most importantly though, the
strap is not too long and does not go around the curvature of your wrist - not eve
Field watch classification
The Field Watch is usually presented with a slim case, with large, easy to read indices. The thinness keeps the watch from snagging on other gear and will easily tuck under a shirt sleeve. Commonly seen with 12 and 24 hour numeral markings, these watches make telling time an effortless task. And yes, they are also used by the military. But let us not call them military shall we, as soldiers also use Divers, Aviators (or Fliegers - sounds cooler) or any other tool watch that men usually go for.

Why you just cannot own one watch
I just thought to put my opinion on paper - for those with grumbling wives: pay attention, for this is going to be interesting.
First off, how many watches have you killed in your younger days? And how much did that cost you? A lot I would bet... One after the other. So there is your first argument: one watch will force you to use it for any purpose, any activity and it will just destroy it. Take your old quartz swimming? Gone with the wind, well drowned in the pool actually. So, a dive watc

The Seiko Elnix: a watch electrified
In the short period between 1957 and the mid 1970s Electric Watches reigned. Electric means they have a battery, either a balance wheel or a tuning fork and either electrical contacts or a transistor. This was a very short-lived transitional phase: transistors were just becoming available and mass-produced quartz watches had not yet appeared.

Show your field & military watch
This thread was missing in my opinion - a lot of brands that I know of have done their version of this watch and the distinction between military and field watch is marginal. Do both will do - if you know the difference pray tell.

Watch brand addiction
I noticed in my collection that some watches get worn all the time, not talking about favorites per sé but the fact that a number of watches I wear are all from one brand! Shocking really, as I feel the burden of the decision to sell my other watches. I am not the kind of collector that just keeps them in a vault - they are meant to be worn.
So tell me, what brand addiction are you suffering from and why? Here is mine: Tissot, more specifically the vintages.
